Sorry, couldnt help myself. :icon_rofl: But that really is my problem. When I start off from a dead stop I get a sudden jerk which feels like its coming from the transmission before the truck will start moving. Ive also noticed the drive indicator on the dash is a little off. While in D it will be a off to the right instead of in the center of the D like it should be. I only get this surge when I first start from a dead stop. Not while shifting, not while slowing down, now while stopping, ONLY when I drive from a dead stop. I've got some 30.9.50's on the truck... Could this be too heavy of a tire for the transmission? Or could this be a worn out/broken tranny mount? :annoyed:

Is it a real hard jerking? or more like a bump or thump on takeoff?

If the latter, it's probably the slip-spline on the rear driveshaft needs to be lubed.

I would say the latter... It kinda hesitates when you first push the gas, then you feel it "kick" in and thats that. But you feel it through the whole truck.

Yeah, I would say driveshaft slip-spline.

Ford had a driveshaft TSB on that for your model. All it needs it a sufficient quantity of Moly-type CV joint grease liberally slathered on (and inside) the spline (it's probably about a 20 minute job to pull the driveshaft, lube it and then reinstall it).

Put the truck on FLAT ground--CHOCK the tires from rolling forward OR backward---put it in neutral----and check for sloppy/loose parts while your under there--JERK (seriously) everything and watch/listen for movement...

Really? I had no idea that could be the problem... Well thanks for the response Ill check it out and post back with my results.

When I first bought my truck 2 years ago it had that problem! I took it back to the dealer next day and they had to put in a yoke slip kit and a steering rack and it solved my problems.
