Jeeps, offroading?

You do have do give it credit for being an awsome 4x4 vehicle but imho there a dime a dozen

You must not have priced one lately... I wouldn't mind getting a CJ or even a YJ, but it is at least 3-4k to get a decently straight one that isn't about to collapse on its self from rust. It is amazing how the little buggers hold their value.

I bet all of you get stuck just the same, wheeling is wheeling people, besides, you guys sound just as bad as the "jeeper" types.

I was just kidding around dude. Hence the smiley face in my post :). I would wheel a jeep around any day. There the originators of 4x4 offroading back in ww1. There maybe not everyones cup of tea but I give credit were credit is due.
One time offroading I ran into my buddy who has a new 08 jeep and his brother and dad both have jeep. His dad owned a really old jeep with just 35" tires. The other 2 had like 38" tires. All lifted and all tricked out. They were all gonna climb this rediciously steep hill with some massive ruts in it. The 2 newer jeeps with the big ass tires go for the hill and they have a lot of trouble getting up this but they do manage to do it themselves. The older jeep (my guess is 70's) went last and just putted up this hill and went through all these rutts like they were pot holes. Never reved the engine once, never had tire spin, never backed up. Just kept the motor at like 1800rpm in first gear and never looked back. Got up this thing like it was a flat road. Would have eatin any ranger or any other 4x4 ive ever seen.

Jeeps came out just in time for WWII, in WWI trucks were still sporting solid rubber tires.

Any vehicle will do fine with skids and lockers.
Jeeps, rangers, s10s, trackers, toyotas, anything. Its all about getting power to the ground.

Jeeps are more well known in offroading because they welcome this label.
Stock Rubicon edition wranglers and new fj's are better equipped than 90 percent of the people on this board.

Making fun of this stock tj, on street tires is absurd. I'm sure all of you would have gotten stuck in the same spot. At least he is equipped with a winch and a girl to get muddy.
Who likes mud anyways?

at least we have the longer wheel base to climb hills easier. that'll do

exactly my feelings on the subject.i respect the jeeps i wheel with but i don't pass up opportunities to poke fun at them when i can.there's been a few times when i've almost felt depressed about my truck watching how easy jeeps tackle some obstacles, and how cheaply they can be built up.but then my truck gets up a sandy hill or something and as i watch my brothers TJ coming up the same hill on the end of my winch line i forget all about that stupid s*@t that was on my mind:thefinger:.

+1 on that. Throw lockers and tires on anything and it will do pretty good. Another part that is rarely considered is the guy behind the wheel. Some dumbass can jump in a properly set up rig and look like an idiot while the next guy in stock rig amazes everybody. That being said, TJ's still suck and so does mud :thefinger:

I don't know what you're talking about, I love mud. It just gets everywhere. Oh well, what can you do?

whats the point of going offroad and not getting muddy? If you want your truck to stay clean then get on some asphalt. If you wanna go offroad then let the mud fly I say.
