jasper tag found

So I pulled my 2.3l and c5 trans out of my 1983 ranger today and notice on the block on the passenger side theres was a small tag said jasper engine & transmission with code 561707 im guessing that my engine is a rebuilt one ? is there any other way to tell besides the sticker? I mean the engine sounds pretty damn bad had a loud tap and massive exhaust leak when I bought it

Yep. Thay have been around for 60 years. I know a few people who have had replacement trans and motors......no complaints form them.
