I've got this problem with cylinder 4 spark plugs...

Well, if you recall that particular carnage thread it also had a shattered piston, two broken off valves, another that I never found, a few holes in the block....

ooooh THAT thread.

yes I do recall it. That engine was gone like your money after a divorce.

I bought this ranger a couple of weeks ago with a misfire, and was told it needed an injector, Talked to previous owners Mechanic and He had replaced plugs and wires and replaced coil pack without resolving misfire issue so he reinstalled original coil pack.
I replaced both O2 sensor and it is running much better but #4 cylinder misfire ODB code returned after about an hour?
I found this thread very interesting and am in the process of checking it out, swapped wires 3&4 and cleared CEL Engine runs fine so far!
My question is if one coil operates two cylinders why would only 1 cylinder misfire if there was a problem with the coil pack?

Well, I'm still in the process of seeing what happens next. I did the swap of 3 and 4 plug wires and it's been fine since. Mine usually takes 5 or 6 months to occur however. One other thing I noticed a few weeks ago is the EGR appears that it might enter in cylinder 4. If this plug takes another crap on me, I think my next step is to investigate the EGR thing further, and see if I can't block it off without throwing a code. I think I've seen a thread about blocking it off on TRS somewhere.
