It's perfectly normal to replace friction disk only if there's been no carnage and you can't see the friction disk under the pressure plate.
And unless the pressure plate has been painted or something while it's out or it's been done super recently you're not gonna be able to tell if it's original or not just by looking at it.
The rust does look kinda new but it's also hard to tell because it's winter and that's the season in which new rust pops up on things.
