Is this legal? Insurance question...

I dont remember the exact break down, but i know it averages 100/mo per vehicle. Gotta love "no fault" insurance.

Here’s a problem you’re going to run into with going to a collector car policy.

Each driver in the house hold, has to have a daily driver vehicle. With coverage through your regular insurance. And they will ask for a declaration page.

Now as far as getting your 77 insurance. Use jc Taylor. Unlimited mileage. And a easy company to deal with.

Also most collector car policy’s require each vehicle insured with them, must be stored in a locked garage.

my daughter has allstate and theyve hassled her before about wanting MY drivers licence, even though i rarely ever drive her focus, they claim every driver at our address needs to be included on the policy, what kind of horse(bleep) is that? you insure the car, not the driver, by their logic if her car was stolen and in a accident, it wouldnt be covered. a few months ago they claimed i was driving her focus and i wasnt even in the same state as my daughter (or her car) i dont even know how allstate would know who all lives at my address anyways.

State Farm did the same crap when my mother lived in the house. Insurance is a necessary evil and a ponzi scheme; however, most people don't have the money to self insure, so we're stuck with it.

Allstate tried to pull the same shit with me when my (now) wife bought our house together. I had 2 vehicles on my policy and she had 1 on her own policy. They claimed she had to be named as a driver of one of my vehicles "in case she takes one of them one day". I told them that's impossible... both my Cobra and my Explorer have manual transmissions, and she can't drive them. I told them I was on the phone fighting with them for so long, she had enough time to pack her belongings and move out... then hung up on them.

Please sit down with an insurance agent, explain how you're going to use the vehicle and discuss coverage. If you buy a policy that's cheap and it doesn't cover your liability you'll spend way more. Insurance companies are world class experts at avoiding paying claims if there's any way to do it. Progressive is among the worst and their "snapshot" device created 54 DTC's in a Focus we worked on a couple years ago. I worked at the dealer from 1975 until 2017 and never saw anything else with 54 DTC's, every system had faults.

I've been wondering about insurance lately myself, as I've begun doing some major upkeep and the $$ are adding up, but if It gets flattened by a Freightliner (hopefully I won't be in it if it does) they'll write me a check for a hundred bucks and say "here's your truck"

Keep receipts for parts changed or added, they usually won't allow YOUR labor cost but if shop does the work in can be included.

I lost a 1992 Ranger 4x4, hit on passenger side front wheel making a left turn
Because it was 4x4 the insurance totaled it, they look up similar vehicles with similar miles to get a "replacement" value, then added my receipts from the last year to that, brakes, hubs, u-joints, ect..........
Also got a bit more for tires since they were only a few years old

Remember you are negotiating the payout, they make an "offer", its up to you to accept it, so have a counter offer ready, with some proof i.e. receipts, or proof of replacement engine, trans, new clutch, new tires, muffler, cat ect............

And also remember you should be paying less monthly/yearly for insurance because vehicle is not worth $50,000
