Is this frowned upon?

I like to ask if they will let me use parts I have already gotten, but I will not go to a place that marks the parts up past regular retail. If I want special parts is about the only time I insist on bringing my own stuff though.

Hey Dude772, thats a great picture thanks a lot. When I tried it, I loosened the adjuster bolt for the PS pump and the mounting bolt, but I didn't loosen the pivot bolt, that could be part of the problem :D. Do I have to completely remove the mounting bolt or just loosen it? I'm not looking forward to that alternator belt, it's wedged in there with a lot of crap around surrounding it...

Its not that bad. Loosen the pivot bolt till its not so tight. Loosen the locking bolt the same(usually about 2 turns should be more than enough).
Then start cranking the adjuster bolt. Its likely that its in there nice and tight, so you will probably need a pry bar or big screw driver to nudge it a little bit. But make sure not to nudge too hard and break the little fins on the alternator case! Its actually pretty easy if you dont go crazy on it.

If you still cant get it, then bring it in to have someone change it. At least you loosened the bolts for him. haha
