Since i need an PCM for my 99 Crown vic with PATS...

I found a couple places that can tune it out of the PCM...anyone done this?

Its cheaper then getting keys done and frankly i dont want to open that can of shit if the programming doesnt take

You already have functional pats keys for the current ecm that’s being replaced? If so and you’re willing to spend a few minutes reading, you can do this yourself with FORSCAN.

But yes, it’s definitely possible for tuners to bypass pats.

Oh, yeah that would be a problem. Have you gotten a quote on getting it disabled? I’m curious what you hear.

150 according to the website....plus shipping

I was quoted 225-250 for key cutting and programming....or even 80 if he comes out and it fails

That’s not bad at all.

Too bad you’re not closer, I’d make you a deal on keys. My green Ranger came with one key that sometimes seemed flaky. When I was quoted those kinds of numbers for keys+programming I decided there had to be another way. Forscan and my own key machine was the solution I went with, I had less than $100 invested in the key machine, couple key blanks and the cable for my laptop. I wanted the key machine anyway because I’m a hobbyist locksmith now.

Cool, I have a key machine, just need the blanks and Forscan and cable now... I've had my '00 Explorer with one key for 10 years now, dealer wanted $150 to make keys like 8 years ago... I've contemplated zip tieing the one key to the back of the switch and making simple keys but haven't gotten that far... getting a couple fobs would be nice too...

Forscan can't disable PATS, right? It just lets you add stuff?
