4x4 isn't typically associated with speed. Like said before, 4x4s are more known for crawling over the obstacles and driving dirt roads that the ricers can't make it on. They still can be fast though. I'll drive a lot under just normal acceleration and hear the ricers next to me red lining their engines and not accelerating any faster than my truck.

buddy of mine had an old f150 4x4 in high school. ricer punks always tried to get him to race them. well, he welded up duals, 12" glasspacks, no cats, and some long 4" diameter cannon tips sticking out each side. he would just sit at the light and floor it. result? lots of black soot and possible blown eardrums

Must be a common miconception. My truck is pretty damn fast and last time i checked it's a 4x4.

tell him you will race him, but at the end of the race there has a be a huge mud hole or some rocks. Then you will both be racing with both of the cars strengths and weaknesses.
