I'd keep the 08 until you have more clarification or conviction about what might happen. Hybrid petrol trucks seem potentially awesome, so if anybody is working on that for the EU market I'd probably want to see what those options looked like before making a purchase decision.
I will say that my experience with diesel emissions standards leads me to believe that they'll only get tighter in coming years. Euro 7 regs will be implemented in 2025 for Light Duty vehicles, so I'd probably hold off until then to see what's available. I'd expect some interesting options to hit the market by then. Diesel, petrol, hybrid, and elecric vehicles will all have to meet the same regs. Frankly, this seems like it will take a fair bit of work and a lot of development money to get diesels elligible (the particulates and ammonia seem like they might be the hardest parts to meet, but I'm not working on that specifically, so could be incorrect).
