Is a lincoln mkc really just a ford edge?

Just wondering, Brenda found a 2017 lincoln mkc online at a dealer 30 miles away. “premier “ trim level (whatever that means) 140K, 2.0 I-4, awd, 18” tires. black in color. Kind of reminds me of a edge but not sure if it’s based off one. $12K. Looks good in the pictures, Id rather have another gen 2 escape or bite the bullet on a new awd maverick.
Would be cool to say I have a lincoln, even if it really is a edge with leather seats & lincoln badging.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Lincoln to me is just like GMC and Buick. Basically the same vehicle but with a more expensive price tag and a higher price tag for the same part on the “lower” brand.

a fusion rebadged? eh, its even less appealing now. Funny how she wants something “new” with gadgets. Id like a 76-86 F250 with a 300 & creeper 1st 4-speed. I do like the escape until it needs worked on.

12k for a 2017 MKC is crazy low. Its either Got a salvage title, some major hidden issue, or a shitton of miles.

Yes they are a rebadged, hi zoot edge.

Wifes got a 2018 fusion and its a nice car. Its only got 34k on it, have had it a yr and a half, had 18k when she bought it. Only issue was the washer pump took a dump for some reason.

Hers is a N/A 2.5/6sp.

Honestly seems high for something with that many miles. A lot of people would consider that a more or less the end of a vehicles life span.



I'm not a person that is concerned with buy a higher mile car, but you gotta know at the very least it's probably going to be needing some suspension rebuild and probably transmission work.

The life expectancy of modern engines is supposed to be far more than the older ones, that's not a whole lot of miles. It's seven years old at 20K miles a year, it's just above average. My newest vehicle is a 2019 and its got just over 60K on it now and it just fine. I had to replace the oil sending unit but warratanty covered the cost. Same with a wheel bearing. But overall, that's not a SHIT TON of miles.

140K just doesn’t seem that excessive on mileage anymore, Back in the day 100K was kind of seen as the end of a vehicles life but not so much anymore. Heck one local lot has had diesel chevies with 300K and still wanted 14/18 grand for them. Yes I realize the new cost of a diesel truck is over 40 grand now, still seems crazy to get that kind of price out of a vehicle with 300K on it.
We got our ‘11 escape @ 140K, was around $4500. was about 3-4 years ago and that seems like quite a deal now. I feel like im sounding like rusty lol.

I bought my jeep with 81k on it. Miles have never scared me to much. Actually the lower mile stuff ive bought (case in point, my F250 that had 62k on it) tends to be the biggest headaches.
