iPhone users, read this.........

this is something else i find disturbing.

the google ads spots on this site routinely feature lodges and such on the islands here.i'm sure these ads are not on everyone's computers,so that means a certain amount of profiling is going on just from my use of this site(it's the only one i'm on).

and we won't even get into the pitfalls of facebook....:shok:

Yep, that's a direct example.

Anything electronic is pretty much gaurenteed to be accesible by someone you don't know is accessing it. That's just how things are. Unless you are a hacker with the skill to covertly change the Pentagon's lunch menu schedule with no one knowing, then you will be accessed by someone.

All my ads have been for trucks or truck parts. I guess profilers find me boring.

yup...i think the thing is to always understand what COULD be going on and making choices in how much you are willing to put up with.then,if potentially being tracked long-term is less disturbing to you than having the latest gadget, then go for it.i do just fine without a cell phone(i wouldn't have one even without all this b.s.)and i limit my internet use with a mind to the potential watchers.i wouldn't sit in a public space with a stack of hustler magazines,so i also won't access any sort of porn on the net.consider it a public space.

call me paranoid, but i've already learned that innocent things done in the past can be twisted around to make you look bad.

and by the time you realise that you should have been more carefull because big-brother is watching you,it's too late.the damage is done.

+1 Galaxy S freakin' rules.
If only they would update the damn OS past 2.1 for us...

I happen to be typing this on a galaxy s phone running 2.2. Google is your friend mate...

Precisely. But nowadays if you want a "normal" life, you are in the system regardless of if you use a computer or not. Anything thats recordable can be used. Purchases, landline phone use, pictures, digital or hard copy, bills, everything. In a normal setting, you are forced to be in the system and therefore are just as vulnerable as anyone else.

That is, unless you're the guy in the mountains with 2 pairs of underwear who poops in an outhouse and has a diet that consists primarily of squirrels. But who wants to be that guy?

the file that is created with your location data is never sent anywhere it is just stored on your computer and phone. my roommate found the program that lets you see the map. its actually pretty interesting.

i have a Droid Incredible (rooted) flashed with Incredibly Re-engineered android 2.3.
its basically running gingerbread from a sprint evo 4g. just tweaked for better battery life and efficiency.

but i also have a mac book. iphones are not for me i, i do love open source-ness hahaha.
