yeah they should work fine. I only use th 1"x2" stuff cause I prefer the rectangle to square look (petty I know lol).

It would probably be easier to have the lid solid and hinged toward the rear window. Then you can lift it all the way up still and not have to worry about possible flimsyness of the bi-fold.

or, you could hinge the lid in the middle like the truck cross-bed boxes are and that way you can open it from either side without having to lift the whole lid. may not need struts doing that way as it whichever side will just lift up and fold all the way back. just a thought.
Really? I've never had problems with the toolboxes on our farm trucks.i'm not a fan of the pneumatic struts as it has been so cold here, the ones on my topper are useless. if i could figure out a way to without them, i'd do it in a heart beat.
