My 96 dome light will not go off when I exit truck. I pulled the fuse so the battery does not drain. I would like to fix this so I can use interior dome light.

your door ajar switch may just be stickin, mine was doing the same thing until i greased it up and now my light and switch work just fine, maybe replace the switch if that doesnt work

just spray pretty much any kind of lube, wd40, one guy used bar and chain oil, or if all else fails change out the switch. the switch is centrally located on both doors about midway down on the cab its self, by the hinge. looks kinda like a valve stem, kinda. there was another thread about this like a week ago, we need a sticky for this bad.

ok but seams like in the 95 ranger there isnt a switch in the door hum???????
any1 know why this is & why it dont go out?

The switch is inside the door. It works internally off parts of the door latch mechanism. You have to get inside the door, towards the back of it, just under the latch. If you replace it, it is just a quarter turn and undo a wire connector to get it out.
If you want to lube it, spray /soak the latching mechanism from the outside. WD40 doesn't conduct electricity.

I just replaced mine (inside the door) yesterday! It was easy. Try cleaning them first, but mine were beyond gone and the truck's only 6 years old.

i will try that out! i use ball bearing grease (last's alot longer hopefully it gets its function back if not i will be replacing this a.s.a.p ( hate not having an insinde light

ball bearing grease might be hard to penetrate all the way down but its worth a try.
