I found some aluminum tubing at work it is 3 1/4" in diameter. It's about 4 feet long and has 90 degree bends in it. I was thinking about using this as my intake tube and stick a K&N on the end.. What benefit would I get from this? Even tho it is currently -31 degrees celsius here.

It would look pretty.

It is still necked down at the TB though, and sucking warm engine heat won't improve your performance any... might help it warm up quicker though.

In my experience warm(er) air to the motor in winter increases mpg on whatever vehicle had a cold air intake from the factory...88 Chevy 4x4,86 Trans Am and 87 Ranger.

Your has a cold air intake, it was installed at the factory.

There is a differnce between cold (ambient temp air) and COLD air as in its below freezing. I noticed with my truck I would lose about 3-5 MPG highway if the temp was below -20F vs. 20F so a warmer air source would definately help in the winter. thats why people like putting winter fronts on vehicle cause it helps prevent that really really cold air from keeping the engine and all its electronics from freezing up.

I put a cone filter on the end of my intake tube which sits in the air box bottom and I block off the opening behind the grill in cold weather. When it's cold out the air under the hood is not "hot"....if you ever rode in a van with the engine cover off you will see what I mean.
