I remember when we had to turn new drums before putting them on. I dont even mess with old parts when doing rear drum brakes, new wheel cylinders, drums, shoes, hardware kits, clean and grease the self adjusters and put a spot of grease on the flat spots where the shoes touch the plate. For about $75 more in parts you get a complete brake job that should last 10 years easy with medium use.
