I have an 89 F-150 manual with Cruise control, but I have never dared touch it. I think I only tried to use it once, but I had it on 5th gear by the time I decided to engage cruise control. What happens when you want to go faster and you shift. Does it turn automatically off?
Aftermarket Cruise Control kits are a piece of cake to install. Takes 4 hours or less if you have never done one. I have done 3 and they work every bit as well as OEM. They work on practically everything but a Honda. They have an overspeed feature so they are fine on a stick; push in clutch, engine revs, cruise disengages. The last one I bought was about $200.00. It was an Audiovox and their Help line is second to none; they take calls and know their product inside and out. I can see how troubleshooting one from another vehicle could be a pain since there could be obscure differences between vehicles. You will not find help as is available with an Aftermarket.
