Install a ranger raptor grill on a 2024 ranger

While home from work i decided to attempt the install of this coolio ranger rapter grill that is made for the regular ranger. I got it from www.ycarpart.com for 226.88 with free shipping. I ordered it on 24 jan and it got here on 3 feb, though it comes in two packages and the first package got here 3 days ago.

My father-in-law liked it so much that he ordered it on 25 jan and his got here the day before mine, oddly. We have the same color trucks though his is a 2025 xlt with the fx4 package. He has a slightly smaller lift than mine and he has black wheels and aggresive off road tires.

So, onto the pictures.

Pop the hood and remove all these little push pin holders.

There are 13 to remove. Use a plasric trim tool to get the center up and then you cam just pull them straight up amd out of the part that covers the top of the grill area. I used the handy tool that came with my muslogy mud flaps.

Remove these two bolts from top of the current grill on your truck. They are 8mm, or 5/16". Same size is how it seemed to me

Grab here and pull straight out to pop the wing bracket out of its holder.

Do the same thing to this one.

Also, i had to remove my license plate mount to get the grill off so fyi, you may have to do that, also

The next part was tough and i didnt get a good picture. Its where you actually remove the grill from the truck. There are 8 more brackets across the bottom side of the grill that need to be pulled out. 2 of them are situated on their sides and are in the curved up area of the bottom of the grill. The two on their sides will come right out of their attachment slot but the 6 across the very bottom are a pain in the ass. I broke 5 of them and i was aware they were there and how to get them out. I just couldn't get then to pop out, even using a little tool to try and disengage them. Finally i just said screw it since i am replacing the grill, anyways. It just means i cannot sell the oem grill for a decent price now, though it still has enough clips to mount solidly. So thats why no decent pic

The clips go into those thin slots at the top of the bumper. You will be here, once you get the grill off.

Next, you need to get the little brackets from one of the plastic parts bags that came with the grill, and the bag of screws, and put a bracket on each end of the grill. 2 screws per bracket. I took the blue tape off the oem grill smd put it in place on the new grill, just because ford had it on there for some reason.

I used bright colored screws so you can see everywhere that needs screws, behind the O and R, holding the led lights in place, and holding the flat top pieces on.

I used small zip ties to hold the wiring for the leds in place because if you dont, the wires just flop around and i was afraid they would get abraided and possilby short out over time.

Hold your new grill up and push all the clips into their slots on the truck. One at each headlight and the 6 across the lower section.

You are almost done and can see how cool it looks now

Runnthe led wiring harness along the factory harness and zip tie them tigether so the new harness doesnt wiggle around and short out or get cut somehow.

Reinstall the top piece with the 13 push pins. One of the front right ones that is closest to the middle will require you to push the plastic pieces its holding together so it seats properly. The rest drop in perectly.

I have the led harness zip tied up while i try and find a better why to hook it to the day time running lights then cutting and solder/shrink wrapping it to the truck wiring harness.

You are now complete.

Go have a snack and drink and wash your super cool truck that totally stands out from the crowd, now

Ok guys, the harness from @F150LEDs showed up to conplete this install. I actually ordered two of their headlight accessory connector kita because i need one for my father in law's truck too so they both showed up.

I dont know how many of yall got stuff from their website but they really put thought into what they build. Their harness kit is top notch. They give you stickers for your toolbox, some for your back window, a scented deal to hang on your rear view mirror, and a stress relief gummy fish to eat and relax if you get angry from something not going well.

Remember these wire from the earlier post? Its time to revisit them and put them to use.

All the pieces that attch your fender liner in the above pics have to come out. The little deals you pull the middle out of, the two push pins, and the two 7mm hex had screws.

Yank the fender liner out. Let me tell you, it sucks putting this back in properly so if you can get to the back of that orange corner marker light from somewhere else, go that way. I learned what a pain it is to put back after so if there is another way, go that way.

The white plug in the picture above about pulling the liner is this plug which plugs into that orange marker light. There is a little tang you oush with your finger tip and the plug slides right off.

Push the grill wires down behind the headlihht and fish them out from where you pulled the fender liner back.

Find the f150led harness and compare it to your plug. One side will be identical but black and the other side will plug into the trucks plug. Plug the one side into the truck harness and the other, place into the back of the orange marker light where you unplugged the harness. Just fyi, plugging into the light is just as easy as unplugging was so be ready for all that fun. And the f150led harness plug will need to be pushed very hard, like amazingly hard, to make the catch click.

So now you are here with the other ends of the adapter harness. These suckers are freaking awesome. You lift the orange tips till the are perpendicular to the original position and slide your wire in and then flick the orange tips back down. They really lock down on the wires. Nice. What a great kit.

Turn the lights on and make sure your grill lights work. For this grill, the wires were backward feom what you would think. It wasn't red to red and black to black. All you have to do is figure out which way turns your lights on and you are ready to put everything back together.

This part sucks. I needed the gumny fish and some some tootsie rolls, plus a large sweet tea. This is the reason i urge you to see if you can access that light another way. I couldnt get that stupid fender liner to sit right and i tried for about 37 minutes before i just stuffed it in and said to heck with it.

Put these back in and align everything as much as you can.

Roll up.your excess wire and zip tie it away nicely.
