Insomnia

I forgot what it is like to sleep. I have not had a decent night of sleep in years. While in Special Ops I worked around the clock. My wife never saw me sleep and when I was injured I got pain meds and fell asleep for about 4 hrs. Wow!!!!! That was nice. My wife stayed be my bed and watched me sleep.
I get about 2 hrs sleep now and then. My wife says that is better then before. Like most of you it is the weird dreams I have....the end of the world in 2014. Too many weird dreams that keep coming true...I really hate to go to sleep anymore. Anybody else have dreams that come true??

I've been having this problem, and I figure maybe someone on here can help.

I sleep maybe 4 times a week. Usually, I only sleep every other night for about 6-7 hours, and on the off days I get maybe an hour if I'm lucky. Last week I woke up on Wednesday and didn't sleep again until Friday night, and then I slept for like 18 hours. It takes me forever to fall asleep, and when I do sleep, I usually wake up 4 or 5 times a night. That's always happened to me, but usually it was for no apparent reason.

Lately I've been having more nightmares, and I've started jumping when I get surprised in a dream, kicking when I dream I'm running, and stuff like that. The weird thing is, I don't really feel tired anymore when I don't sleep. I feel more alert than usual, but like my brain has slowed down.

Does anybody have this problem, and if so, what did you do about it?

I have the exact same issue. I noticed its worse in the desert than it was in MS or Cali. I rarely have nightmares ho thankfully. I recommend Wal-som sleeping pills*over the counter* take 4 of them and it usually helps. no other non-prescription medicine has ever helped me.

Edit: Worst dream i've ever had took place at a urinal. I went to pee then woke up.........quite embarrassing thank God it only happened once

I personally just call the missus and ask how her day was.

I'll be a monkey's uncle if I'm not out like a light after listening for two minutes.

I am almost 40 years old and I've had sleep trouble most of my life. Ranging from trouble falling asleep to falling asleep quickly then waking up an hour later and staying up. Or worse , no sleep at all. Recently my wife told me thats enough because I was getting snappy at everyone and told me to see our doctor.

He prescibed me some sleeping pills that work fantastic. Never feel groggy at all after waking up. I used them for about 2 weeks and now only use them when I feel I need to ( which has been about 1 and half weeks ) For the first time in my life I am getting a decent night sleep.

GO SEE A DOCTOR ! I am glad I did

I like to do my finances and live the way that i'm comfortable with. What I do during the day helps me sleep at night. Some good lovin really helps the mind slow down.I try to do some activity every day some times I exercise but only when i'm trapped indoors by the weather. Sometimes I just don't get enough sleep and suffer a lot.I'll take a pill about once a month because I'm afraid of addiction which is trying to destroy mankind.

No more talk about illegal substances please.

For me, if I don't get to hit the weights I get like that. After almost 30 years of it I get cranky and restless if I don't get my exercise.

now first of all, not an illegal substance. marijuana depending on what state you are in, if you have insomnia you can go to a doctor and get recommended for a medical marijuana license which then approves you to purchase it from the clinic.

Why are you still talking about it when you were told to stop? If you don't see the difference between that and over the counter medication then I think you've been taking your own advice a little too much....

are you here to regulate, I think the mods have it under control? how do you see a bunch of chemicals, dyes, and a heavy concentrate of alcohol being worse then a plant that grows out of the ground. I think you are trying to be a good citizen not breaking the law, but the same government is turning around trying to make it legal?

Take two six packs and call me in the morning!

goin on 4 years now. i just deal with it. get out and wrench, best thing ive found to get me to where i can actually go to sleep is either go swim some laps, or do some serious workout. something that your body isnt ready for yet, like benching 1/4 more than you can. it will wear your body out faster than any normal activity. after a swim or workout it usually takes me maby 7-10 mins to fall asleep. compared to the normal 30mins-never.

You guys are way to young to have sleep problems. Wait till you get to my age. I was having tons of problems sleeping more than about 1 to 2 hour a night also.

I have found two products that work for me as I can't take a sleep pill or I will die from it. I can't wake up after one of those for nothing till about 18 hours have passed.

One is from a company called Longevity Science, and it is called Magna-Calm wich is a Magnesim dietary supplement you take like a tea about an hour before bedtime. The other is Melatonin Supplement capsules you take also about an hour before bedtime.

I have no problem getting about 6 to 8 hours with these products, and if something happens that I need to get up for, I wake right up again.

I always found that after a concert I slept like a rock. Could be the moshpit execise or the beer, not sure.

Go for a little drive at night, tends to make me sleepy too.

That seems kind of snooty of you, dad. It's also funny that you're bringing this up a few days later, long after it was last brought up. I was just asking him (not you) why, after being told not to mention it, he immediately made a point to mention it again. I'm sorry if you, who had absolutely nothing to do with it, have a problem with me asking a person a question. He already replied and the conversation was over with. There was no reason to bring it back up.

I did nothing to imply that I'm trying to "regulate" or that the mods didn't "have it under control".

It's nothing to argue about, though. And for what it's worth, I agree with you 100% and I have no problems whatsoever with "the green stuff".

Hopefully you wait 'til the drive is over before you give in. :icon_thumby:

im usually a nyquil kinda guy. if its bad then 2 shots of that and some benadryl does the trick. word of advice though, 2 shots and 5 benadryls are way too much. actually made me more alert somehow and everything looked like they should be stairs.
