Hello All,

I have noisey inner tie rods. I took my truck to the shop and confirmed that they needed to be replaced. I pulled my tire off and took a look. It seems that I will need a special tool to get to the inner tie rod. Has anyone done this before? Do I need to get a wrench on the rack and pinion?

Thanks

They will unscrew with a large pair of channel-locks.

Well, the inner is tucked into the frame. I'm not sure if I could get a channel lock in there. I could possibly get a crow's foot in there. I'm worried about damaging the steering knuckle that the inner tie rod connects to. Do I need to counter torque that piece when I remove the tie rod?

Remove the boot, and turn the wheel to the side you are trying to remove, and you can get to the inner tie-rod with the channel-locks ok.
