Injector Leak?

Forget about all that. If you need a new high pressure pump, get the Bosch. If you need a low pressure pump just stick with quality brands, again, Bosch is a great move.

Don't worry about flow rates. A stock replacement pump will be all you need. Regardless, the high pressure pump could potentially flow a lot more than the low pressure, in-tank one.

ok cool. my mind was thinking 'oh crap its all related' between injectors, rail pump, tank pump. but pressure regulator, when functioning, should create baseline pressure at rail and injectors are isolated from that.

@Shran I followed your recommendation about plumbing the gauge to the fore face of the filter, primed to 55 psi and let it set for an hour. Came back and, whatdya know, it's down to 22 psi.

Just confirming, that nonsense shouldn't be happening, rail pump should be a 1-way street. right?

Rail should hold pressure pretty much forever once primed.

@Blmpkn Sorry, meaning high pressure pump in frame. I'm trying to isolate a leak. Pressure at rail falls from 40psi to 10 overnight. moved further up the line to see if hp pump shat the bed. Appears it has, so rather than ripping apart plenum I'm likely ripping apart fuel lines to swap pump and filter. HOPEFULLY rail will hold pressure from there. and if not, its on to the injectors I suppose.

I would probably put a new high pressure pump in, although, mine did that exact same thing for quite a few years and I just lived with it. The pump never fully failed. One of my Explorers does the same thing, I just make sure to prime the system a few times before attempting to start the truck.

Now just spamming y'all.

When disconnecting fuel lines and allowing filter to drain into catch basin, I noticed some fine glitteriness. theres a chance it's leftover from last oil change, but I'm also experiencing significant panic right now.

If this is metal from pump dying, and some of it got past the filter and to injectors, are they toast? and could this also murder valve train and cylinders?? or should I settle tf down because its def not shavings. kinda glittery.
