inhaled anti freeze help

stuff taste like mountain dew without carbonation... just saying

I thought manufactures started to apply a BITTERNESS (foul tasting ingredient) so you knew damn well that what ever was in your mouth you should be spiting out and not swallowing.

i like the way it smells when its hot. i dont go around huffing the stuff but it smells good. to the OP, you should be fine aside from the smell lingering in your nose. we aint gonna rag on you here because chemicals are dangerous turf, and you never know. like brake parts cleaner for example, and most of us do this one, if you are welding 2 pieces together that you cleaned with bpc, when the stuff burns, it gives off a gas that can kill you without warning. no symptoms, looks like a heart attack. and i admire that you take it seriously. most people would do it again to see if they could cop a buzz of the stuff.

That's only for chlorinated brake clean, which i ban from my shop for that reason. Heated with torch or arc welding, it gives off chlorine gas. When heated while shielded with argon (mig welding), it gives off phosgene, one of the gasses used to kill in WWI.

Non-clorinated stuff is much safer, but still hurts like a b#*^h when it gets in your eye.

yeah phosgene. thats what i was trying to think of. nasty stuff. kills quick too. what is it, like 10 minutes or so?

A lot of them do, but more of them still do it only in places like Oregon that require it by law. A couple people (GM, Kia, etc) have moved to OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolants which taste bad and aren't as toxic as the EG. OATs are usually orange and aren't recommended by a lot of manufacturers because it doesn't lube the moving parts of the cooling system as well and promotes metal deterioration (note the acid part).

Back in the day before cars had overflow tanks, I caught a facefull of it once, swallowed some, I'm still alive. I bought Lev-R-Lok radiator caps after that.
