Believe me, I'm would be tempted if it wasn't a $70 radio...

I COULD fit this radio on my roof if I didn't use any existing bolts to bolt it up, however I didn't want holes in my headliner... the radio that fits best up there is a radio the size of a Cobra 25... so something that is about 6.25" wide (at least in my Ranger...)

Good luck with whatever you do, and be sure to post pics!

How did you measure the SWR at 1.2:1? Was it by using a separate external SWR meter? If so, I might be tempted to say your radio has a defective or miscalibrated warning light circuit and to put a piece of electrical tape over the light (or return the radio for another one maybe). :dunno:

i don't know much about those warning lights, but i have a cobra 19dxiv, with a 4' firestick mounted behind the cab, in the box, tuneable no ground antenna, i have NO issues at all, antenna is tuned at about 1.1:1 or less... my external meter barely moves when i key the mic (i forget what channel i tuned it on) tuned it on my own, in about 15 minutes...

go get a no ground antenna and mount, problem solved...

Yeah, I figured the same thing, it has electrical tape over it now, haha. Went out and tested it too, got four miles and I was coming in as clear as I was from my mailbox to the other guy (100ft)... Pretty sure its working how its supposed to now.
