I was getting a ton of oil into my throttle body and couldn't figure out where it was coming from but come to find out it was coming through the breather tube on top of the valve cover. There isn't much info on it but from what i gather of the forums this means that im having blow-by past the rings causing oil to be forced up into the tube. Is this the only reason this would be happening or is there another explanation? thanks for any help

Have you checked the compression?

You can also do a leak down test to see if you do have excessive blow-by, confirming whether or not that is the issue.

yeah...compession/leak down...that is always a good thing to check...

but you can also check the PCV because it's part of the way the engine disposes of excess vapours and air pressure from the oil pan...

I haven't checked comp yet, only because i was going to see what ya'lls opinions on the situation were. I can do that this weekend but is there anything else that could be causing oil to come through the tube like that? im hoping this is going to be something simple not a motor rebuild

blow by the rings/ engine might be getting tired but to be honest if it runs good and you keep an eye on the oil level, run it til you rebuild it or it blows.
