Ignition switch removal?

I have a 92 Ranger with tilt wheel, and all of a sudden the key will not go in, so I'm thinking I'll replace the switch, I need to know the proper procedure for this. Can anyone help? Pix would be a plus. I really need to know ASAP!

If you cannot get the key in at all, the only real solution is carefully drilling straight down the lock cylinder. If there is any way you can jiggle and nudge and get the key in and turn it to the run position, the whole unit slides out very easily (just have to remove the lower cowl from the column and push in a pin).

The collar (the metal wings) can become separated from the rest of the cylinder and make it difficult to put the key in as it's the start of the guide. Try seeing if your collar came loose and then got stuck in an awkward position. Mine does it all the time because I'm too cheap to go buy a new cylinder.

They're not that expensive - I think the new one in the Explorer (replaced last night) was $14. It's worth it to make sure you never have to drill the bloody thing out. That's a pain in the @#$ I wouldn't wish on anybody when it's so easy to avoid.
