Thought I would share some info from another site.
Many of us have Cobra front brakes (13") on our Rangers.
My brackets were made by a machinist named Trevor, screen name Tee Rev. His kit includes a bracket for mounting the caliper, and a machined hub that replaces the Ranger rotor. A Cobra Mustang rotor ('94-'04) slides over this.

I have no relation to this guy, but I have bought his product. He is making another batch, and is talking about this being his last one. If any of you had not heard of these kits, I wanted to pass the info along. Details can be seen in this large thread from another site

as well as various posts of my truck. The member "eacyde" is the sales contact for Trev and his business. They've been trying to get a minimum order of ten this time, and they're coming close.

He can do the kits for any year. '83-'94 require using the '95-'97 spindle. (obviously, this means '83-'88 need the later beams, too)

Check out the thread, it's a really cool product that some of you may not be aware of. Not cheap, by any means.

I'm sharing this as a just another Ranger fan.

Most of us use the Exploder front rotor setup since thiis is a direct bolt on and they are a bit bigger. My Ranger with the 33x12.5 KO's stops really great. A lot better then stock Ranger rotors. I spent $95 with shipping included for the Exploder set up brand new on Ebay last summer, so I thought that was a great deal.

Could you elaborate a bit on what parts are used, the rotor size, and years covered? I'm always looking for ways to improve braking.
I'm in the process of shaving some calipers to clear 15" alloy wheels over 12" rotors for my '00. after I swap to '04 knuckes that is.

Hey Stray, Tee Revs big brake kit fit the TIB trucks, your talking about the IFS trucks.

Actually Trev's kit can do any Ranger (he varies the parts depending on original equipment), including IFS and torsion bar suspension and it uses the '94-'04 Cobra caliper and 13" Mustang Cobra rotor. His hub is machined down from a stock Ranger rotor.
The performance is very good, but there is no doubt that it's a visual modification as well.

Ok, I searched TEE Rev AKA Racing Ranger on RPS. His kit allows you to bolt on mustang cobra brakes. You really need 95+ spindles with the caliper held on by 2 bolts to use this kit. It has a new hub that replaces the factory rotor and a spacer that gives the correct placement the cobra caliper needs to move it out far enough to fit over the rotor. You will have to drill out the front brake line to 7/16 for the banjo bolt to fit. I guess you will need a different master cylinder for this swap? So, it is around $800 for this swap? Any way to make it cheaper??

I saw no reason to change the master cyl. The Cobra caliper is actually smaller than the Ranger caliper... (for '95-'97, the ones I had, anyway)

Definitely not cheap. But a cool looking and rare mod.

I swapped cobra rear brakes on mine as well and did not change the master cylinder. I did however get rid of the abs and add an adjustable proportioning valve. A problem many members might have with it, along with the price, is that you need at least a 17" wheel. I didn't drill out my brake hose to fit the caliper, instead I bought stainless braided front lines, which have a hole big enough to fit the banjo (this just adds to the price though).

All in all, my brakes cost me about $1600 :icon_surprised:

Another ranger upgrade is to use gen 1 sport track Rotors (12"). I personally haven't done the swap, but I have heard of it done...

What if I only want them on the left and not the right.
