If Mercury Made a Ranger?

Know anybody with a 95-01 Mountaineer? If you park beside one you may be able to figure out if the hood, fenders, and grill would swap onto your truck. I've seen 91-94 Explorer noses on 89-92 Rangers that look like they were bolt ons. 58 Edsel noses fit on 57-8 Rancheros and look cool too.
Mercury "Rancheros" were produced but I can't remember what they called them.....

Off topic sort of but...

A guy on my street has a GMC "El Camino". Can't recall the name at the moment but they exist

I think it was the "meteor ranchero"....i think they also had a comet based ranchero when ford had the falcon based.

Yup
It was called a GMC Sprint until 1978 when they renamed them El Caballero until end of production 1987.

The only reason I know it was a Caballero is that my neighbor had one... and he got really annoyed when you called it an El Camino.

Not adding anything "MERC" yet, but my "Core Shifter" for Ford trucks w/M5OD came today!
I bought a smaller vintage Hurst shift stick off ebay to match it for the transfer case shifter. Not sure if I'll be able to get to it this weekend or not, but I think it will spruce up the interior. Shorter throws will be nice too!

Guys, your input and dialog so far is really appreciated. Anyone feel like throwing out a name to call it? Seems like Mercury was all over the map on names. Everything from Celestial bodies Comet, Meteor, etc. animals like Cougar, people like Villager, Voyager, Mariner, Mountaineer, Grand Marquis to places Park Avenue, Milan, Capri. I'm hoping for something that equates with "Ranger" incorporating Mercury's Roman deity roots, Military affiliation, and Celestial body history.
Throw 'em out there!

Park ave was a buick :)

How about Rangeroo? My friend always calls Rancheros Rancheroos.

When my daughter gets home from university I'll see if she has the hood ornament and hubcaps from the '49 on M-1 out in the pasture.

2nd gen Explorer/Mountaineer/Navajo is 2" wider then 4th gen Ranger. The door panels are an inch wider on either side (so you can swap dashes), the fenders and grill are too, the windshield is 2" wider.

Mercury Ranger should have the power/heated leather seats of the Explorer, center console, Explorer mirrors with puddle lights.

I took the cowl hood off my ‘89 Ranger and bolted it onto my ‘94 Explorer... they’re the same. Any width difference would be in the flare of the fenders.

Ahh, gotcha.

On the first gen Explorers the grille, headlights and hood are the same but the fenders and the rest of the body are different... there's people that have swapped the second gen Explorer front end onto Rangers and they seem to split the fenders at the wheel wells to blend... yes all of the extra width in the Explorers is the door flare and whatever they did with the windshield and such...

Oh, that's where the extra width is. I've often wondered, ever since I saw the dimensions of both. I thought maybe the interior of the Explorer was wider (to accommodate rear seat passengers ore comfortably), or maybe the width was in the mirrors.
