I'm doing a 5.0L swap into my 87 BII which will also include an AOD trans.

I'm told the trans is from a 90 Town Car but can't confirm that. Even went to the local dealer for help and they were unable to offer any info.

Here's the info taken off the trans:
RF-E9DP-7006-AA (Cast in the housing)
LY723233 (Stamped in the housing; and on the 5.0L)

PKA FA21
035157 B27 (These three lines were on an attached metal tag)
FOVP AA

Does anyone know how to interpret this info? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Mark

Your best bet is to look at the pan, note the shape and number of bolts. A 1990 would almost certainly have an AOD, there wasn't anything else in those cars.

RF-E9DP-7006-AA

E9 = 1989 casting, does not mean the year it was made, just the mold that was used to cast the case, so 1989 casting could be found on a trans made in 2009, if the mold never had a design change

D = Granada, LTD, could be town car, didn't see a separate listing for it

P = automatic transmission

7006 = generic ford transmission part number

AA = revision number

035157 = serial number

B27 = build date Feb 27th, most likely 1990 if that is the year of the vehicle it came from
But at least an 1989 because of the casting mold year
A, B, C, D, ect...... = Jan, Feb, March, April, ect.....

Thanks for the feedback. At least now I have a good idea of what I have.
