id my moror please?

Pop the valve cover off. If it has 3 cam towers it's a 2.0, 4 means it's a 2.3. Pretty simple stuff. I don't know how to identify it from the outside.

ok, thanks, i was planning on repairing the valve cover anyhow so this will work for me.
Thanks Boss.
Randy.

It's a 2.3 and it's not from a Pinto. Or at least everything hanging off of it is not. I'd guess it's from a Ranger or a Mustang

And if the valve cover was still in it's original box it would be worth almost as much as the whole engine.

Only the block and head are pinto, the rest is original 1985 Ford Ranger 2.3 stuff bolted onto the engine.
it goes like a raped ape up until 60 Mph, but after that 5th gear is useless, almost downhill too. Just has no push on the freeways.

Somebody got there wires crossed. A 2.0 liter Pinto has a different bolt pattern than that (Exhaust). ANY 2.3 Pinto, Mustang, Ranger, Including the 2.0 Ranger and 2.5 Ranger (until '99) uses that bolt pattern.

It's nearly impossible to ID the long block in any of the pictures but, judging by what can be seen of it in the 3rd picture I'd have to guess mid-70's But it's definitely NOT a 2.0 EAO sport motor

Also the only 4cyl that came in a Pinto from '75 to '79 was the 2.3. The 2.0 was '71-'74. '74 was the first year for the 2.3.

Oh and by the way, It looks exactly like a 2.3 to me.
If you ever want to get rid of that valve cover let me know!!!!!
