a buddy of mine has a cummins and that happened yesterday to him:icon_rofl:

the sonoma only had a 2.2, it probably ran for 10 minutes after the air box froze up. A cummins on the other hand, wow! thats a lot of snow!

My brother who currently lives in eastern Wyoming has not only commented on this phenomena (that it happens even without drift busting)

and you shoulda seen my Ranger's engine bay after driving into the wind across Nebraska (from around Scotts Bluff to
Casper Wyoming along US 26w to I-25N) during the christmas eve snowstorm in '07

It looked a lot like those pictures... 150miles into the wind (and infact in 4x4 with the hubs locked
and the last 50miles on I-25 in low range...

And infact that you don't park your vehicle nose into the prevailing wind in the summertime unless you
want the engine AND cowl to fill with windblown sand.

Some good snow/ice in the engine bay from ND snow drifts (these pics are a couple years old):

Enough snow to stop the cooling fan and break the fan shroud:

After cleaning out some snow to get the fan to run again:

^^^Without the fan running it probably was almost able to get the engine up to 100 degrees... haha.

actually the snow packs in and blocks airflow which is just the beginning. water is a wonderful thermal insulator because it has a rather high specific heat. this is why igloos stay standing even though there's a fire burning inside. you should be more worried about overheating in these conditions that the cab heater suddenly going cold.
