I've never had an issue with credit preventing them from renting to me. I've always just given them my DL and debit card, no problems.

I do seem to have problems renting their trailers. When we last moved a few years back I wanted to rent one of their car dollies to haul our Elantra so we didn't have to drive back and get it. I had an Astro van that I wanted to tow it with, and according to the owner's manual it was well within its capability. They wouldn't let me have it unless I showed up with this to tow with:

Maybe they have relaxed that a bit now, but I have better luck with the local industrial rental place (think Sunbelt but not big and powerful enough to order equipment painted green). If I were closer to IL I'd offer to help haul, the old F250 loves a challenge.

Their policy or whatever is that the weight of the vehicle being towed can't be more than 80% of the towing vehicle. Or so I read.

Luckily... I've only ever had to tow a 93 ford festiva.

OK so a 1/2" wrench AND a hammer...

Well they should stop you right there because a 1993 Ford Festiva would never break down and need to be towed so they know your lying!
