Well, I just found two 302 short blocks here in good condition for $150 each. So if you do your homework and the work yourself (You'd be amazed what you can do in a driveway) it shouldn't cost too much to fix, whatever's wrong with it.


As far as the TPS thread, I meant more specifically that he said there was no option on his computer to see what code the check engine light was throwing. ANY code reader should have that option. Take it to autozone and have them scan it for ya, just take their possible solutions with a grain of salt and do your own homework about the issue.

He showed me directly on the screen that it just had some option for testing the sensor (I think) and wouldn't tell if the computer was screwy. Since 3 seonsors were tried, and for all I or him knew, some wiring could of even melted when I limped it home with a blown head gasket with it taking 12 gallons of water and being hot the whole way. Had to be real careful that day not to let it get too hot.

As far as the DIY front, I tried that on the last engine, me and my friend tore the engine down for 4 and a half days in my driveway to replace the head gaskets and put on some heads I bought, then we found screwed up pistons which isn;t something I could do in my driveway.

30 days is the normal from most wrecking yards & Iv'e even seen as much as 90 days
