I need a pep talk...

why dont you find ways to improve the power of your ranger? or just upgrade to a newer ranger? your truck has proven itself time and time again, thats gotta count for something...

trade ranger for toyota?

my brother and i got into a huge argument about this. he thought that all toyotas are some gnarly trucks that you simply buy and will perform offroad miracles. (but no stock truck will ever perform miracles on or off road) he went on and on about how 22r's are the best motor on the planet because he got to drives one of his friends toyotas with a 22r in it. but i finally got some of the facts of him, like the fact that it has a ridiculous cam and heads on it along with paddle tires. ok, any truck with a cam, heads, and paddle tires is going to beat any stock truck that drives up next to it. but IMO what would i do with a four cylinder when ive got a v6, now let me put a cam, heads and paddles on my ranger and lets see if he still feels the same way.

but if youre looking at a stock comparison of trucks, how is your 3.0 thats already paid for, gonna do against a truck with a smaller engine that isnt paid for. and if you really think that your motor isnt putting out enough, then something might be wrong with it, because my 3.0 breaks the tires loose pretty easily on and off road

well thanks again for all the suggestions, I got 4.10 gears... what ratio would give it more "pep"? would that decrease the fuel mileage? Honestly I'm not very automotively/mechanically inclined, so I'll prolly just keep driving the crap out of her and hope I can afford one the fancy new Fords that should be coming out... In fact I wanted an F150 originally but couldn't afford the ones I liked, got an okay deal on this thing, and it's been pretty decent.
And it'll spin the tires no problem, especially after I spend the whole week drivin' my works' E350, and then hop in the Ranger to head home :3gears:
But I've spent too much time sittin' around thinkin' this week, I need to get out and make some coin!

something to keep in mind.
The 22re is an awesome motor. However, it isnt really known for getting great fuel economy. I would expect worse mileage from it than you get with your 3.0.

Ummm... you are tired of your 04?

I have a 98 that is relatively unreliable. It has Just shy of 200K miles, about half of those I put on there in the last 4.5 years. After the Japaneese shitboxes that I have owned, i'd be more inclined to get a S10 (:bad:) than get a Taco.

:bad: S-10! Heck naw, my boss just got rid of two old Chevvies, and got a brand new F150 (I think that was mostly to keep the wife happy...) anyway, yeah somehow along the way, I guess I got spoiled buying a nearly new truck. I'll blame my father, he trades his cars in every three years, his latest ride is a 4-banger camry, with auto trans, he really likes it!
