Ok, well I replaced the driveline support bearing and the u-joints in the driveline and that didn't take care of it either.
So I tore into the front passenger side again and found the outer bearing was the culprit. I think I may have overtightened them at some point. So I replaced the outers on both sides just in case and headed home for the night (shops at parents house across town). Everything was smooth for about 10 miles then it started up again. By the time I got home it was all messed up and vibrating badly above 45 mph.
I spent some time looking and feeling the races. I put the bearing in and spun it and it felt good. I compared it to a new race I had sitting there (to lazy to just install it in the cold) and they seemed feel the same so I went with it. The old bearing wasn't tore up or even looked bad, it just felt like there was a flat spot somewhere and I didn't feel this with the new bearing in the old race.
So I guess now I try again with new races also? Could something else be causing this? Do I need a new spindle or something?
Also, I don't know if I got the passenger side axle phased correctly. I didn't mark it when I pulled it out. If it's out of phase and the hubs are locked, can it wiggle till it fries the bearing? Doesn't seem likely.
On top of all that, my gas pedal decided to start sticking on the way home and almost got me in an accident. I'm starting to get tired of this trucks problems. Wife's ready to MAKE me get rid of it.
