I got the "I'm sellin' my Ranger" blues.

I love that it's the same body style and even color as my first one. It'll feel like my first one right off the bat, just with the top spec engine/trans combo :D.

I'm gonna start ordering parts soon and make my build thread.

It's a truck, rubber and iron nothing more...... I don't get attached like some people do to vehicles. No point in it.

People who I know who aren't car people say the same thing. Those people generally (but deffinitely not always) seem to also have the attitude of "I don't need to know how to take care of it as long as I can afford a shop". Which is a horrible attitude.

I see no reason to not love my truck, it was comfortable (to me) and a gernally pleasant place to be, never once broke down on me and got a couple of my friends to and from work a large handful of times and much more. You may think it's pointless, and you are entitled to your own opinion, but for me it was all I could do to keep from hugging it.

Would it have hugged you back? exactly it's a truck, rubber and iron nothing more.
If it broke down and left you stranded in the desert and you died, it wouldn't feel any different than if you bought it new wheels tires, washed it, and made love to the side pipe.

It's an inaminent object, not to be idolized.

I do care about maintaining my vehicles. I do know how to work on them, did I cry when I scrapped my first truck? sold my first car, my first truck I bought new.... my first diesel........ no.

Aside from some unforseen catastrophic failure I couldn't catch, if it breaks down it's because I didn't do the upkeep, thus would be my responsibility. I'm not trying to convert people to my way of thinking nor do I idiolize my former Ranger. I'm not out sacrificing goats to it, I just appreciate it in my own way. I appreciate and care about it, both logically and a bit on the emotional level. Everyone's different, but I'm not going to stop feeling the same way about my vehicles in the future.

For clarity's sake, I wasn't implying that you didn't care about maintenance, etc, simpley that the vast majority of people I've seen make similar comments had that attitude.

well my first vehicle was a hyundai that got right before my grandmother passed away. i used to talk bad on it all the time, saying how i wanted a truck. when it came the time to sell it, i couldn't watch my father hand over the keys. I got over missing the car, but i still miss the 35 miles per gallon that i was getting...
