I'll Chime in here, my 88 2.9 was acting stupid, the sensors ALL went to the new (to me) engine from the wreckers, EXCEPT one, the TPS, that is the one sensor that came from the wreckers, the engine now works fine and no codes.
On an engine run scan, the light will flash once about a minute after you restart, this is the "stomp" test, also remember that the parking brake MUST be set, (and the light must show in the cluster (many have bad E-brake switches, so make sure yours is lit before starting the test.
FWIW, IF you guys are interested, I have "the GOD Book" on ford's EEC/IV and sensors, underhood wiring, and a mess load of "how it all works" some 480 pages, It's a free download, let me know if you need it, and I'll post the link (or search the forum for the original post.)
