I give up...

Wasn't 100% sure what a power antenna thing would do... I'm not that old :icon_rofl:

Yeah. Nether will pick up anything even when I put in my factory stereo. So maybe I need a new antenna wire running from my headunit to my antenna?

stick a coat hanger in the antenna jack on the back of the HU. if it works then buy a new antenna :icon_twisted:

:stop: If you do this, and it touches ground, you can short out the HU, I don't advise to do this :nono:

You did say that you couldn't get your RADIO to work, but we took that as being synonymous with HEADUNIT.

It is HIGHLY advisable to say that your radio receiver/reception doesn't work.

You see how we all got confused, now?

So I picked up an antenna and plugged it into the back of my headunit and it works great.

How do I take the base of my old antenna? I tried removing my front quarter panel but there's no way to get to the base itself. So how do I get to the base?

there a chrome nut mon the antenna itself, youll see slots cut into the base of the antenna, take an adjustible wrench and take it off.

then the antenna just slides right out

So I got that taken apart. But I already pulled out the old antenna wire. Now, how in God's name do I feed the new antenna wire back in? It seems the engineers at Ford made a maze out of this.

your just gonna have to find a hole and shove it through.

thats the best advise i can give you, a coat hanger is your best friend here.

Easiest way I know is to zip tie speaker wire to old before you remove it, that way you can zip tie your new one to the speaker wire and pull it back through. Sounds like it is a lil late for that though. Only thing I can think of would be to tear apart the the dash enough to find a passage through, that you can manually run it.

I've tried wire, a hanger and even tying a nut on the end of a string then trying to pull the nut to a magnet. This hole must've sealed up because I've been at this for a good hour and a half this evening. Even took off my front quarter panel. There's nothing. I'll be going to a body shop to see if they can give me some advice. Maybe they'll have some sorta blueprint or service manual or something.

As for taking apart the dash, the wire went along the backside of the glove compartment then disappeared somewhere above into the depths of somewhere between my firewall and the spot where that antenna actually mounts.

Just push it through a hole in the fire wall some where ( could shove it right through the hole already there for the wiring.)then run it to the radio.
Tuck the wire up behind the dash.

Your making this entirely to complicated on your self by over thinking it.
Just slow down a bit and think about it. Its easier then installing a head unit.

Have you got it all routed now?

Nope, gonna work on it today when I get done with school. Or maybe before I go in, who knows.

Edit: I'll let you all know either
A) if I get it into the maze it's suppose to go into. Or
B) where I rerouted the antenna wire.

Well, I finally got the new antenna in. I just drilled a hole somewhere up and behind my glove compartment. The hole ended up on the other side of the fresh air intake but I managed to get the wire down and through. :icon_thumby:

To whoever pushed me to just drill a hole and do it, thanks. :D Lol. Lots easier than trying to run the wire where ford originally had it.
