I’ve had this truck , 1996 Mazda B2300 for a few months and the previous own bypassed the temp sender for the temp gauge on the dash . Almost everything I read tells me the sender is on the block around the oil filter area but on mine it is in line with the heater core hose . If I jump this plug it will peg the needle to hot . I have now bought 6 different senders all with different resistance values . None are correct . I can’t find anything online about it , only the single wire . I’ll send a pic to see if anyone has the same .

Here is a TSB on it. I wonder if the Mazda dealer can get this retro fit kit? It comes with a new sending unit.

Instruments - Temperature Gauge Fluctuates

T01498

1995 - 96 B-Series - TEMPERATURE GAUGE FLUCTUATES

APPLICABLE MODELS
All 1995-96 B-Series.

DESCRIPTION

The temperature gauge may fluctuate when the thermostat opens, particularly during engine warm up. This may be caused by an over-sensitive temperature sending unit to gauge signal. A modified sending unit/gauge kit is now available.

Customers complaining of this concern should have their vehicle repaired according to the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer complaint.

2. Perform normal cooling system diagnostic procedures per the Workshop Manual.

3. If the cooling system is operating properly and slight gauge fluctuation has been observed, install service kit.

4. Remove the existing water temperature sending unit located near the thermostat housing.

5. Remove temperature gauge per Workshop Manual page S-26 and BETM pages C1-48 & C1-50.

NOTE:
