I-Beam 2wd to SAS 4wd?

divorced 205. or a divorced 203 for fulltime.

Don't want to. I am aware of the advantages that the dicorced transfer case can offer, especially when swapping out drivetrains. If the transfer case is positioned right, you've only got only one driveshaft to worry about instead of two. It also opens up more commonly available 2wd transmissions, and allows for varying engine placement. Nothing wrong with a divorced case, I just don't want to go that route.

Of note is that I'd still have to buy another transmission to do a divorced transfer case. On fords there were two different tailhousing to case bolt partterns used on the NP435, one for 2wd and one for 4wd, they are not interchangable. The NP435 used with a Dana 21 uses the 2wd pattern for for the tailshaft housing. At a minimum I'd need to get the housing and possibly the output shaft. The easiest way to get those would be buy another transmission to swap in.

If I'm buying both anyway, I'd rather go with the OD transmission and matching transfer case.

I have given some consideration as to where to stick one of those as well, but it isn't in the F-100. The 85 Ranger in my signature is a 4 banger. I haven't started messing with it yet and will try to get it running wit the stock 2.3L 4 cylinder.

I want to build a Lima 2.3t for it. I've never played with forced induction and I want that to be my guinea pig. Honestly at this point the ecoboost would probably be cheaper and easier, but that's just installing an already built package. I want the experience of prepping the engine and doing the turbo swap. The formula has already been pretty well worked out for the Lima, so it should be relatively easy if I can follow the existing examples. When/if that fails, I'll definintely explore putting an ecoboost in it.

Hell, it might succeed then I get tired of the transmission options and ecoboost it anyway.

if something is to be a driver the ecowhizzer is where it is at.

the problem with the lima...is it is captain cavepig technology. even with dual injection and a holley hp management system its still going to want to be a peaky bastard.

all of the bad for daily driver duty.

the ecoboost is ...in 4 whizzer form not meant to be a race car engine. but ho v6 power in a better emissions format... it is by far the most slept on engine out there to be sure in regards to pure capacity....but its primary goal is low rpm power. the shitty ones are 250 hp 300 tq.....limited by transmission ability.

it is the most potent engine out there in terms of weight power and economy. the mazda inline 6 is another one to keep an eye on..... have not got to look to close at those....but i suspect they are also a wolf in sheeps clothing.

low rpm being 6k down. eco whizzer hard to beat.

for a direct swap it is the best engine out there.

in an old school rbv that came with a lima...for sure building it can make sense for a race application.

you will never get a 330hp driver out of a lima like you can a ford edge 2.0 engine for 900 bux.

drivability being key.

if its just trailer trash and drag race track only truck....

keep the lima and build a t400 for it. that is where the lima beats the ecoboost. all out straight line build for sure.

ahh....the 21 problem. yeah to use a ford case is generally easier to find a married trans.

the 21 and divorced 205 use the same 4 bolts iirc. swapping to a jeep t case uses those square pattern cases. though that is not cheap. but if you have a jeep....best low gear is a 435 back in the day.
