I am that dumb...

Haven't done anything for quite some time like this, but once (years ago) while working on a Pinto trans, I hit a bearing race with a hammer to....loosen it, yeah that's it. Well, hardened steel meeting same usually causes chips to fly. One did, and lodged itself in that spot between the thumb and first finger. Healed up OK, but could always feel it in there. It finally worked it's way out, after a few years.

Non-work related injuries suck since there's nobody to blame but yourself.
I sliced through my left middle finger nail right to the bone on some fresh cut small gauge steel. It didn't hurt until a few weeks later when I thought I would bite off the top portion of the nail that was just along for the ride. Stupid idea, couldn't use the finger for another 2 weeks until the nail grew in the rest of the way. The nail still doesn't grow in to the tip of my finger.
I also have no feeling in the tip of the finger and it's hard like a callus.
Found the picture. That spot of blood is where I took a 60 gauge drill bit and drilled into my nail to relieve the pressure of the blood under the nail.

Doesn't look bad but it's what you don't see on the side and back of finger.

well, it wont grow their cause it looks like you bite your nails or cut them extremely short, I've seen some kid at school with 1/4" nubs be tries to bite at.... thats gross

Good call on the drill bit. Your nail probably would have fallen off if you didn't do that.

When I had a 4 gallon glue bucket fall on my toe at work the doctor had this cool laser thingie that just zapped a hole in the nail. The first one was so cool, there was just this little beam of light then suddenly blood squirted out when he got all the way through.

By the time he was done my nail had so many holes it looked like a salt shaker.

Good times :icon_cheers:
