and a 4500 SHOULD stand up to a 6bt, but it didn't.i was told that a 3500 should stand up to a 4BT

ymmv
so since i'm coming back to the east coast you guna hook me up with one of them engines, haha jp. hope it works good for you man
how much power were you trying to put through it ?
the engine and power levels were bone stock.
For a transmission, you could go with a ZF and an adapter from a bread van that was powered by a 4BT with a Ford transmission behind it. You could also use a M5OD-R2 but that might be a little overwhelmed by the 4BT if you crank up the power on it. Those are just two options that allow you to keep the Ranger with parts that originally came in Fords.
If you want a GM or Dodge tranny I'm not sure what to use. Maybe whatever Dodge mated to a 6BT since it would mount up the same way and you woulndn't have to find an adapter.
so, use an NV5600, it's a six speed and it's rated to 26k pounds, you'll never destroy it.
how much does one of them cost ?
and how easily could i fit it and a transfer case and still be able to fit drive shafts in a 94 Ranger Regular Cab Short Box ?
get to it bud. all i gotta say
