I A C valve swap

Is The IAC valve from a 94 Ranger different than one from a 96 ranger other than the wiring. The bolt pattern seems to be identical. Just the plug seems to be different. The 94 unit looks more heavy duty than the 96 one. Are these valves open or closed when disconnected? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
