So what is the "right tool"?
Might want to tell those crying babies to use a BerFH next time.![]()
Hitting the balljoint or tie rod with a pickle fork invariably ruins the boot.
so even if a joint you were seperating to work on something else was good when you won't be after it feels the kiss of that damned fork tool
OTOH smacking the CRAP out of the casting that has the female taper in it doesn't hurt a thing.
Its isn't the size of the hammer as much as it is applying the force to the wrong pieces and in the wrong direction...
By using the hammer method You can assemble and diassemble them several times... without any harm at all.... unlike the fork...
If you really understood physics and had ever heard of
"The Morse Taper Principle" I wouldn't need to explain it.
The hammer blow sets up a shock wave that causes the female taper to release the male taper and the pieces fall apart.
hitting it softly repeatedly will cause dammage, a few full power
blows won't.
I can demonstrate if you like...
