hub conversion???

i have a 91 ford explorer with those crappy auto locking hubs, i want to put manual lock outs on it, i was reading in the technical library about putting f150 (44) outers on the dana 35, for the most part it seems like a bolt up thing, im wanting to know is the stub shaft long enough or is the splines the same? has anyone actually done this swap?? thanks for the input!

You use the D44 stub shafts.

If all you want is manual hubs, why not just put regular manual hubs on it?

I agree with Junkie, you can get some manual hubs from a junk yard(Kinda scary) or order some warns, you'll need a set of spindle nuts for each side, which if you ask for replacements, and not a conversion kit, 4 Wheel Parts has 'em for real cheap

most hubs you will find in the juck yard are for the dana28, mine is the 35, im looking for a bit stronger set up along with manual hubs. thanks

i got a set of Warn hubs and conversion nuts that i can sell.

Warn hubs and Ford hubs are the same. Unless you get the Jeep axle conversion hubs.

There is nothing wrong with junkyard manual hubs. Most of them have never been used. Just make sure they are clean on the inside before you install them.

The one advantage to F150 hubs is that manual Dana 44s are a whole lot more common than manual Dana 35s.
