How would YOU solve this problem?

Or a self tapping metal screw straight through the washer and body. Simple and should work... I think.

Do the coathanger and car battery tack weld. It shouldn't be hot enough to burn through the sheet metal but hot enough to hold the washer, otherwise jb weld it.

L bracket and 2 rivets

McGuiver........is that you......where you been all this time??????

Alright. I rigged up an L bracket...but there is no way I can get a drill in there to drill it. I guess I could take the header panel off and possibly get at it from the back. But I am not feeling that again haha. I am going to JB weld the bracket onto the metal and if that doesn't work...header panel is coming off. Hope the JB weld works! I can take pics when it is all done

Just make sure and clean everything really, really well. It would suck big ones if that washer broke loose. Not sure how you'd get your hood open then.

My buddy bought a $250 grill for his MGA and had to cut right through that brand-new sucker when his hood release cable broke. ouch.

I ground down the two surfaces so shiny bare metal..JB weld didn't hold. I was waiting for it to dry and it just slipped off. Frick. I am going to tear off the header panel tomorrow and drill the sucker. Solve the problem without all this fooling around

Wow bummer dude. Screwing something is usually a good plan.:icon_rofl:
