How would a 4.0l sound straight piped to a cherry bomb or magnaflow?

I had my muffler fall off a while back, the exhaust ended right behind the cab so it was straight out of the cat. It didn't sound terrible bad, but the drone at highway speed really got to a guy after a while. I ended up just putting a magnaflow wanabe on it and it runs fine, no rumbly, but it doesn't drive ya crazy on the highway. I'd prolly go with most of the suggestions here to put a good full flow muffler on

As promised, heres the video of my Ranger with the straight-through exhaust. Sorry it took so long, the video didnt want to upload terribly quick and it took forever for youtube to "process" it.

I'm also posting this in the exhaust part of the forums, as thats where this type of thing belongs.

Hey thanks alot i think it sounds good:clapping:

Its a straight-through design, yes.

The guy at the exhaust shop called it a "Torpedo Pack"...and I was baffled at first but decided to give it a try, which turned out to be a good decision. And for a long while I thought it was some kind of F'ed up Magnaflow...but after some recent research its not.

Turns out the "Torpedo Pack" is exclusive to a company called Jones Exhaust Systems.

Heres a link to a partial catalog from Jones, I have the "Blank" Style Torpedo on my Ranger: http://www.who-sells-it.com/images/catalogs/2041/pdf_9248.pdf

4.0L straight piped

I have a 1998 Ranger XLT 4x4 with a 4.0L five speed. It has straight pipes from thee cat back. I think it sounds damn good

I have a mangaflow ss duals on my 1999 4.0 5spd and i personally think it sounds better then most everything besides flowmasters. I had it sitting next to a kid with a 98 4.0 with duals and a gibson muffler and it just didnt sound the same.

heart throb dual deep tone exhaust sounds good, you eliminate the factory muffler and put two glasspack tips at the end
