How to remove headlights on a 2004 Ranger?

I just bought an 04 ranger want to take the headlights off and paint the inside of them. I was wondering does anyone have a how to removing them? Its probably pretty simple but I'd like to ask first before I break anything. I've done all sorts of engine swaps and stuff on vehicles but messing with body stuff bothers me. I want to make sure I do it right so it all lines up right and looks right when I'm done.

Pop your hood, right above your headlights you'll either see a plastic cover or not, if there is one remove it, there will then be two sliding retainers on the back of the light, just grab the tab and pull, you might have to wiggle them a little but the light should come out.

How are you going to paint the inside of the light? are you trying to tint it?

There is a wright up somewhere around here, but it's only for the 2000?-09 style headlights.

The tabs can come up too high sometimes so if the light doesn't almost fall out move the tabs up and/or down a little.

While you have the headlights out, check out the mod where you make the side marker flash opposite the directional light in the headlight assembly.
When the lights are on they are normal, when the directional is turned on the side marker flashes, NICE.
Easy mod and it looks great.
