How to i put fluid into my transmission!

An '86 TK trans will use 80W GEAR OIL.

Check your owners manual (if the original trans) to see what is spec'd. Google the Ford Fluid # if you don't know what it is -- most likely it will cross-reference to gear oil. Also, when you drain the trans, it should be obvious whether you have gear oil (gray) or ATF (red).

I use a small pesticide sprayer that I got at a hardware store (to fill externally) since it moves fluid faster than a hand pump. True, it's probably faster to fill it from above the shifter, but put something down over the carpet to catch spills.

I ran ATF in an '87 TK trans that required gear oil and I had a grinding noise for about 1,000 miles after I put the correct fluid back in.

The manual online states ATF for the TK-5, mine has standard 80W gear oil in it, and always has as far as I know. Its kind of a gray/black color and probably considering all the stuff I've replaced is probably the original lube still in it. Afraid to look at the fluid in the transfer case at this point.

Ok, so I dug out my Ford truck shop manual for the Bronco 2. The manual states Standard transmission lubricant (SAE 80W) or ford part numbers:
D8DZ-19C547-A (ESP-M2C83-C) or equivalent. This is for the TK-5/TK-4 as the manual I have is for the 83/84 B2's.
