How to check manual trans lube?

Never had to check a manual trans fluid level before. So I will ask this site for more help. 1987 4x4 5 speed man tran, How do I check it and fill it ?Thanks Btw I did a search but couldn't find anything on this trans(FM145)

When you're under the truck, you will see two plugs. One on the bottom of the tranny and one up higher on the side. Pull out the higher one on the side with a 3/8 ratchet and stick your finger on in. If you get any on it, its good, If not, add until it starts coming 0ut the fill hole

^^Yep. but...instead of the finger, I use the old quart of ATF and top it off til it dribbles out.

No manual trans offered in 1987 takes ATF.
