How to change light bulb in 1992 Town Car door keypad

Ever since I got the rap module and hooked it up to my Ranger, it has bothered me that I had door keypad capability but it wasn’t being used. So on my last trip to the junkyard, I got a few from various Fords keypads. The chrome one from a 1992 Lincoln town car is the one that caught my eye the most. When I got home, I connected the wires and put in my code. It worked perfectly, but the light did not come on when I push the buttons.
So I thought I would see if I could do anything about that. On the back where the wires are coming out, there is a layer of silicone. I cut all of that out and then remove the three little bars that are pictured. After that I was able to push the wires through and remove the bezel. Then I noticed that the lighting that Ford had was a strip with two small solder points. Well, I did not know how to replace that so I used the four holes that were in the circuit board and put 3 mm blue LEDs in. I then put it back together. As you can see the one and zero don’t light up very well but I’m pretty happy with it.

now I just have to get brave and cut a hole in my door.
